Check protocol, installation and calibration of a wind vane or anemometer.

Actual compatibility

Confirm that the sensor, display and gateway support the required messages. Sharing a network name does not guarantee every function; check power, connectors and configuration.

Mast and wiring

Plan safe mast access, mounting and cable protection. Sensor placement and obstacles can affect wind readings.

Calibration and other data

Set the orientation according to the manual and check readings in different conditions. True-wind calculations need other consistent and reliable measurements.

Check messages and network

Ask for the exact model and the messages required by the display or gateway. Verify connectors, power consumption and a compatible drop on the existing network. Do not add power or terminators by guesswork: review the wiring plan and manuals.

After installation

Record sensor orientation and the original setting before calibration. Compare speed and angle on the original display and application, and confirm that both update. If they differ, investigate the source or units before adjusting the sensor.
